Does anyone have experience pulling the pre-combustion chambers on a D13000 replacing the O-rings and brass washers and then putting the chambers back into the head.

Done it on other engines.

If the chamber doesn't "break free" and is coming out hard, I suggest putting an impact wrench on it and rattling it back in and then out a little at a time to avoid taking all the threads out of the head. If you do, you can put in a helicoil insert.

Old style chambers has a separate "retainer" that sealed around the top of the chamber in the head. There were o-rings inside next to the PC chamber and outside next to the head. The retainer can be removed, resealed and replaced without disturbing the PC chamber itself with the correct set of tools. If you are dealing with this type and do not have compression leaking into the cooling system, I would leave the chambers alone just to avoid the possibility of damaging the threads.

Newer chambers are one piece and have only the copper washers on the bottom and the outer o-ring around the top. They must be removed to reseal the o-ring.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

The poster neglected to state that he's dealing with the early style pressed in chambers.

Wonder if you could modify the head to use the screw-in type?

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
