Need to know the control s/n. Tag should be on the mounting flange next to the filler facing forward. Most likely a 2Wxxxx number if installation is a match to a 1952 tractor.

Thanks I found the tag this morning. It was located on top of the tank on flat portion of the tanke between where the control arm enters the tank and the filler cap. I know I looked there at least twice before. I was just able to make out the rivets this morning after you reaffirmed my suspicion on it being located near the filler. I had been told to looking in two other locations before.

So the tank is a Hydrolic control #46 Valve 1 with the following number: 2 290 there may have been a dash between the 2's but it was not legible. There was definitely a space between the 2's. If this is not a possible S/N i will go back and scrub the tag more and put chalk in the numbers, but i felt like I was able to read the tag.

Should be a letter "W" between the two "2's. This makes it a very early model that may or may not have change parts in the control valve as the early versions didn't work all that well. Your going to have to open the tank and access the control valve which has a balance valve above it that works on hydraulic pressure and controls the rate of ascent and decent. The balance valve is probably stuck in one position, either due to corrosion or possibly broken springs.

Of course check the obvious first....that the linkage is working properly, no binding, etc.

Here is the parts breakdown for the original valve version assuming no change parts have been installed.

I will tear it down in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the image and ideas. That will be a great help. I will let you know what I find.
