getting tractor ready for a little project the clutch does not a distinct snap tractor pulls fine snips tracks in low gear plenty of power I have been around 2 cly john deres put this clutch does not snap like I think it should do I have it a little tight or is it a little wear here and there equals slop this is been this way since I owned the tractor just wondered should I be concerned thanks boots

No doubt the linkage is probably well worn and will affect operation.

What is your serial number.
Later 2 u used oil clutch.
With a dry clutch use some CRC or similar on all the linkages this makes a big difference

On my 1H with a dry clutch I found the cams were flat. I was able to source new ones from Florin. I also found the boss on the pressure plate where the cams work was cupped. I ground it flat as best as I could and it snaps in good now.

sorry forgot to include the serial # d8 2u 15236 dry clutch we have a 2 yr old d7 but if my arm can stand it I love to run this old girl sound like its idileing when running wide open but you start pushing on a tree or ad dad says " get her in a strain and she comes alive I believe she has a very good govener or what ever in the fuel pump I am wondering about the cams and the pressure plate just worried about messing up my cluth because of parts avability please discuss further my have to put off using and do job with the 7 and rebuind the clutch this winter thanks
