D8-2U cable dozer is tempting me.

A friend asked me if I would be interested in a big old dozer. I said yes and he took me to see it. Ran when parked. He said twenty years ago but I'd say probably thirty. The coolant has been drained and a can is on both exhaust pipes. One track is like new, the other about 50%. I can barely afford the asking price of $1500. I offered$500 because it's in a remote location and moving it is going to suck. Serial number on the back is 2U197. Any thoughts about it?

The air intake is open on the pony, so I'm guessing that it is wasted.

check all the gear boxes for water, and the crankcase. See if you can turn the two motors

undercarriage is worth the price alone, you can't get it anymore and that undercarriage is fairly decent compared to what you normally see on those old units, that would be about a 1947 model?
