Hi
I am sure that this has been discussed before but I can not find where it is. I need the fiber links that connect to the clutch on a D8 2u, I would look at good used ones if it would save the club money. Any info you have would be helpful!
Thank you
Eric

Eric, I have the links but could only find 5 but I'm sure the other one is somewhere. I will trade you the links for a 2U23,000 oil clutch cover and the left side CCU unit lever.

Attached are some pics of the links and oil clutch floor board.

The ones on ours seemed to just rot. The Cat sat outside under a bunch of pine trees without the cover on for about 10 years before I got it.

Hi ag-mike,
Yes, they go bad.....dry out and crack and become brittle....sort of like old tires.

I replaced all the links on my 2U in the spring. The upper bell housing has some hidden bolts, other than that it's about a 10 or 12 hr job. I have a cab that made it harder to work do to lack of space. If you have any questions I can answer them..

If the flwheel (engine) is not lined up correctly with the drive shaft it,s very hard on the links also.

I crawled under cat & pulled bottom 1/2 of bell off & replaced links in bout 2 hr from start to finish- hardest part is putting bell back up by hand- got my links from grace track service in Elkhart Ia - were bout $250 for set 2 year ago- they have been bought out since so don't know what they are called now or their prices- but may be worth a ck..

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
