Good evening all,
I’m curious how hard it is to convert this to electric start? I’m having a heck of time getting the pony motor to work. The cat runs great though push started it and it runs strong I’m working on rebuilding the carb can’t keep it running its rusted bad I’ve soaked it cleaned it as well as ultrasonic cleaned it and have made some progress. But in the process I’ve about killed my shoulder and nearly broken my finger cranking that stupid thing over. If it’s a simple change over to direct start that would be fine as I’m not worried about lack of glow plugs I did my d6-9u a few years ago and it’s been a non issue. Thanks
Direct start conversions are available. Requires a fabricated adapter, depending on pony transmission arrangement.
Best to contact www.catstarters.com (B & C Equip.) Corpus Christy, Tex.
Thank you Old Magnet I was beginning to wonder if there was anyone left on the site.
Converting to electric start isn’t too difficult. You’ll need an electric starter motor, battery, and mounting kit. It may require some modifications, but if you’ve done it on your D6-9U, you might use similar parts.
