just thought I'd put up a few snaps of #2 now that I got it ready to do some work. Been a long haul. Combined two winches, fixed the tranny, installed the canopy, rebuilt the ccu, made most of the floor boards, removed a lot of broken bolts. After I yard up my Dads logs I think I'll give it a paint job. This machine hasn't done any real work in at least 20 years. Engine runs strong, clutch works good, undercarrage seems about 60% and its converted to 9" pitch. I do have the track frame sheet metal to install yet. Thats #1 with the broken piston next to the shop and a D4 I've been working on for someone else.

Hi, LeRoy.
Sheez'a lookin' good. I hope the work for Caltrans comes through for you. It would be great to see an old slow-banger out making a buck again.
Thanks for sharing.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Today I pulled up a couple of big redwoods and the winch seemed to work fine.. pulled the bull line in half. Last time I get a used one. Sent my brother to get a new one and he shows up with this used looked to be 1 1/4' line so I thought the extra size might make it last longer..wrong. Last one I bought was a 1" and I have pulled as hard as that machine will pull with no problems. Guess if you want something right you gotta do it yourself. Otherwise the machine seems to work good, lots of power, tracks don't do anything strange even side hilling. I think I'll put it to work next week on a long driveway job through a farm being parceled out. The guy has his permits and money in hand. Should be a fun job only about three miles from the house. Does mean another trip over the wooden covered bridge 😞
I am applying for the Cal-Trans Small Business program in hope to get the little jobs none of the big guys want. hope to have #1 D8 back in action soon also so I have a backup machine. I also have a 15a that looks like an easy runner. I got some current snaps of the 15a in Bob Figas's yard. Note the Brizzard Matthews decal. The machine was sold right here in Eureka. Ironicly it was the first D8 I looked at when I started looking for one and passed it up because they wanted way too much for it and a place called Mics tractors. When all was said and done I got it for $1000 which includes delivery to my house when I'm ready (and finish Bobs D4) so he doesn't go back empty.
