You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Hi, Redsisbest.
Welkum to ther forum.
Firstly, those Cat cable controls are a 'different' gadget to adjust. You adjust the brake by tightening up or loosening the brake spring. This is the ONLY adjustment for the brake. Many people think that the threaded bolt attached to the actuating lever is the brake adjustment. NOT so. This adjustment is for the neutral position location - the center of the roller should align with the small hole in the actuating arm. Only when this is so can you properly adjust the clutch. You can tighten or loosen the brake spring without having much effect on the neutral position.
If you are referring to the pin which anchors the long threaded bolt from the actuating arm to the brake band, IF my memory serves me right, it will have a retainer pin or clip in the inner end. This can be a bit fiddly to get out and equally fiddly to get back in. The lower anchor point pin is held in position by the outer case when it is fitted in position and bolted on.
The whole brake band can be a bit tricky to get out too. It's a matter of getting everything in the right place at the right time.
An instruction manual helps a lot when working with these cable controls. If you ask nicely, sombody here at ACMOC may be able to scan the relevant pages and post them for you.
Hope this helps.
Red, I have an operators manual that shows you how to adjust it and is for the 56C so I,d send it to you if you give me your address either on here or on a private message and I,ll get it out to.
Has nothing to do with adjustment. If you need them I can post or should be in archive search as they have been posted before.
To access the brake band:
Remove the clutch and brake cover, control rod nut (3), clutch lever (6), and the return spring. Keep the brake spring compressed by the pin or nail as shown at (4) then follow the posted page.
Reminder. There is a set screw holding the shaft that has the blind thread puller hole.
These instructions are actually for the #25 ccu and others of which the #29 is very similar.
Red, I have your book ready to send and I,ll get it out Mon. as the post office is closed by now. I,m sure it will be a lot of help to you and glad I could help. (SJ)
