Hi everyone, I have a D8 14A that has been converted to 24 volt direct electric start. I would like to put a starting engine back on it and have found someone with a D8 15A that wants to put direct start on it. I looked at catalogs for both tractors and am quite sure my starter should match right up to his 15A tractor. He is hesitant and I just want to confirm that the same starter will work on both a 14A & a 15A tractor before we get too far. He has a few starting engines and related parts he is willing to trade for my starter. If we do the deal, I will probably be looking for some parts, as I would want to at least check the starting engine over and freshen it up with new rings, bearings, seals and gaskets. I know some parts are tough to come up with, so I would appreciate any leads. Thanks

According to my parts books they have different flywheel housings, different flywheels but the same ring gear. The blocks are the same as well as the transmission on the pilot motor and both have the same pinion.

Same starter fit either one. Does require the large diameter bolt pattern on the housing but that should not be a problem although some are not always tapped for the mounting bolts.
