Hey guys,

I went in to a local ish construction outfits office the other day to inquire about an old cat that has been sitting in the back corner of their yard, as it has been there for quite a long time.  Turns out it is a D7F (serial # 92E946) and everything is supposedly in good shape other then the powershift is out of it, to the point where it wont even move cold.  The guy said there are thrust washer pieces in the magnetic screen.  I had heard that the earlier F had a bad trans, (reason ?) - is it possible to upgrade it if I overhauled it ?  Does anyone have a line on a good place to get some parts ?  I think I can get it for scrap price, which maybe is to much depending on the trans story.  Any info is appreciated, thanks guys ! There's a reason that unit is sitting in the back lot. Early D7F's had a very troublesome low speed high torque transmission that did not survive very well at higher speeds. Issue was later resolved with the higher speed reliable D6C transmission. Conversion to later transmission was not deemed practical due to also requiring changes in transfer gearing.
