Bought another D7E 75E and does not appear there is much coolant in it. I want to know what is in it but cannot find an easy bolt or drain port. I was working on the 4 bolts on a plate under the radiator but they are REALLY on there and I am not even sure if it is worth the fight with them yet. Is there something easier to access? Can I get the engine drained?

There should be a hole in the left side of the hardnose to put a socket on long extension through and get on the drain valve.
D-4 7U-43159 with 4S dozer and Cat 40 scraper, D-7 3T-1179 with Cat 7S hydraulic dozer, D-7 17A 13,944, D-8 14A-1160 with Cat 8S cable dozer, Cat 12-99E-4433 Grader. All runners and users.

Thanks. I was looking in that area for 20min just going off instinct. I do have a PDF manual but the explanation is vague and picture is not good. There is an arrow basically pointing at the water pump and says "open drain valve"...... I guess it was not obvious to me where it was. I did pull a plug that looked promising but had engine oil in it. I think the head of the trans cooler but appears engine oil runs in there as well.

Hello fastline, the best manuals are the originals that are often found on eBay. You will need the D7E 48A books - D7E 75E1 - 500 equals D7E 48A6393 - 6882.
D7E 75E501 - up equals 48A6883 - up (high hp). There's also a lot of good info in the Operation and Maintenance Instruction book.
These are the manuals I found on eBay for my D7E 47A (direct drive). It took a while but I was able to find manuals in great condition for way less than repop books.

You know, that seems a bit controversial on the 75Es. The one in question is a 75E7xx, but the books I have direct from the military spec it at 165hp??

I seem to recall as you could determine the high/low HP models by the air cleaner type. Vertical style is low hp, and horizontal is high hp. This one has a vertical style.

Is there another way to verify the power output? I seem to remember the entire intake side was different, complete with different turbo?
