i have a d7e that the turbo had froze up on, it had carbon and rust built up on the exaust side, the tractor had probably sat for ten years when i got it. i cleaned it and got it spinning free, i ran the tractor about ten hrs got an oil leak and parked it for about 2 months and the turbo stuck again. i cleaned it, got it freed up, it wasnt very bad this time, i can feel a little up and down slack in the bearing should i keep running it or try to get it rebuit? any help or advice would be great, thanks

Even a new or good turbo has quite a bit of play in the bearings so if it,s not hitting the housings at any point then it probably is ok yet but if you know someone with Cat experience or turbo experience to check it out then do that.

Hi guys, if the turbo is not noisey or leaking oil then i would run it on for a while. Maybe take her for a good hard walk a bit more often Dan !!

thanks for the replies, glad to here the slack is ok, didnt know much about turbos. i just didnt want to chance it coming apart, dont have the money to buy a rebuilt one right now, still havent found the oil leak, its somewhere on the front of the motor. i think im gonna have to pull the belly pan to get to it, its not that bad of a leak, but the fan is pushing it threw the radiator and stopping it up. ive got four ponds to build with it then i can afford to spend some on it. my rails are at the end of my adjusters but the tracks arent tryin to walk off yet, i have about a 100 hrs of work to do and im hoping they make it. the pins havent been turned yet, it has dry rails on it, i was thinkin abut taking a link out if they start comin off, any advice? i could get them turned for 1200 but i need to do these ponds to get the money, the bushings arent cracking or worn threw yet, what would yall do? thanks for taking the time to read all this and giving me your advice,it is surely appreciated.
