D7E D339 engine blowed fuel filter gasket out. Replaced it and blew it out again right after start up. Engine seems to run fine but can’t tell due to air.

Background it was running fine for months run it off in ditch on steep angle last night and it blew out when working it out of ditch.
Pulled it up today and replaced the filters they where terrible. So I assumed maybe to much back pressure caused them to blow out. replaced gasket twice now and it’s still blowing out gaskets. Anywhere to look? Where is the bypass is it possibly plugged or stuck shut.

Maybe it’s creating to much pressure? I pulled filter housing off and cleaned all the crud out before starting over.

What are you getting for fuel pressure?
Pressure relief valve is in connection to transfer pump.
Which fuel filter gasket is blowing, top or bottom.
If bottom gasket the flange is noted to get bent if bumped or over tightened. The housing is made of aluminum if I recall correctly.
Same goes for the top flange, can get warped.

Top one. Bottomn is fine. Just surprised me that it just happened all at once. Do the top plates warp or whole housing?

Idk can’t run it long enough to check fuel pressure it’s spitting it out everywhere on the top flange.

If there is allot crud in the system then the relief valve must be stuck shut or crud got in the tube to the injection pump and plugged it. The relief valve is down on the transfer pump.

Kinda what I am thinking. I will start there tomorrow after work and pull it all out and clean it and put it back.

Do you have a first stage filter before the transfer pump? Check that too. That should have kept the heavy scale out if its in good condition and working right.

Ton of fine rust made it through into secondary housing.

To fine for the Rock stopper on the primary.

Went ahead and just pulled the whole pump off to clean it up.

Found the Poppet i guess i would call it on the bypass valve was solid full. So thats the problem i would assume. That is a weird design compared to Hyd systems. To me it seems like a flow through style of pressure regulator i guess.
