D7E 48A 2472 Cable/Tilt

My starting engine ran fine when I bought, loaded and unloaded it so no complaints there. But the oil is filthy, I couldn't get socket to connect with the drain plug so I dropped the belly pan. The hydrophilic hoses for tilt run right in front of the plug and are rusted stiff. I unbolted a hose mount and got enough play to get the socket on the plug and it turn about 5 turns before it get tight again. No oil comes out, I have put a drill bit into the hole to unplug any barrier and feel no indication of any hole. I plan to suck the oil out but would rather the drain plug work. There is (I believe) a heat exchanger I could drop to get more room but would rather not. Does anyone have an idea to move me forward? you may need to try and feed a flexible piece of wire--speedo cable or such--up into the drain hole and around the corner to dislodge sludge blocking the drain passage drillings--may be also try a few low pressure blasts of air into said drain hole.

Eddie, Your "around the corner helped along with the air idea. I parked the tractor across the road from the barn so no air. I ended up using tie wire to clear the hole and it let the oil/water drip out. for compressed air I used brake cleaner, that really cleaned out the dirt/etc. I wonder how many years/hours this went with out a change. Did you check the oil gauge and the pan have a screen and could be clog and if the pan is empty off oil she could be gone in small transmission(oil seal)

the service manual says the starter engine head can be removed with out removing the engine. I don;t see how i can get a torque wrench on to the back bolts. do they use crow feet torque wrench? Thanks, Lex

You need to loosed the front support bolt,removed the center support under the pan and remove the front water pipe and the rear exhaust pipe and rear water pipe and turned the top poney and you should have some room to pull the head
