hi guys i was using my d7 on the w end and it got louder as the day went on..upon inspection there is a short pipe between turbo & ex manifold that is loose & jangling around ,leaking heaps of ex gas..what secures this ?....and are all the track idlers able to be lubricated..the is a plug on them with a square socket in the middle..is there a special tool needed??...i used my d7 for 2 days clearing bush and what an awesome machine..it just pushes & pushes & never even looks like stalling with that turbo whistling away..love it

That short pipe has rings on it like piston rings to seal the loss of gas, doesn't matter much unless it is annoying you.

I think the bar in a 3/8" or 1/4" socket set will undo the plugs out of your idlers.

Yes,square headed plugs are the means to lube rollers and idlers at rebuild time ,no need to give them any more
attention untill next rebuild time unless they leak.[takes same oil as engine]

Maintenance free or lubed for life rollers have the plugs.

The old joke is they are lubed for life, so when the lube runs out, that's the end of their life. You can add 30 wt drive train oil if you have some seeping and perhaps extend the life. If you want to get set up to lube these there is a special nozzle to stick in the roller that fills them to the proper level. Or you can simply add some and hope for the best.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

All manor of threads are used on the sealed rollers,so the chance of a button head fitting are slim.I have taken a plug from junk roller and drilled it and welded a pipe nipple on and used that to add grease. The roller has lasted much better than I ever thought it would. The first roller I saw looking wet lasted less than 100 hour without oil(planting season on a farm Cat yes the stitch in time saves time ),so the next I added grease right away and the change it latter.Well later has never happened and roller is still good, but that machine has sat 3 or 4 years awaiting transmission work.I keep finding other machines that are headed for scrape if I don't rescue them that are easier fixes than my old favorite.

Hi Wacuda. If you are talking about exhaust elbow, it bolts to a pedestal on the exhaust manifold with 4@ 3/8" bolts about 1 1/4" long. On my 47A I have caught mine coming loose, but not to the point where exhaust was leaking.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
