A fried bought some land and this D7 Ser # 17A1964 engine Ser# 34B569 was there.Does any one know specs and year on it?He is trying to decide whether to scrap it or try and get it running.Exhaust was open so I think the engine is froze up.Oil on stick was high but no water mixed in it.Might be water at the bottem of pan.Everything is there. Some one put electric starter on and from the looks left it sitting after that.Hate to see it scrapped.

Hi, Bjohnson.
The 17A tractor serial # rings true but that 34B569 engine serial # does not compute. If it is the original engine, the engine serial # should match the tractor #. If it is a replacement engine, I would expect it to still be a 17A prefix or one of the various power plant serial prefixes.
The engine serial # should be on a small aluminum plate rivetted to the side of the block just above the starter motor. If this plate is missing, the # may be stamped into the block in the same location.

They are pretty tough tractors to kill.

Hope this helps but where are the photos?

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Tim as of now he is still rolling it over in his head.I thought we might pour brake fluid in the exhaust and let it sit.The scrap price would be close to $4,000 but getting it there will cost since he has no truck. How much are you willing to pay and I'll run it by him.You can PM me if you want.
