Hi guys,

Can someone please help me. I want to do an oil change on my 1966 D7 , AND NOT SCREW UP.
I found the 3 pipe plugs in the back housing.

Do I need to drop the belly pan and drain a pipe ?

I know why it's very important to have books, but I can't find any originals yet. If anyone has a set for sale please let me know.

Thanks for any help !

Dave

Depends on the tractor s/n. For 1966 units 48A5951 to 7500 the break between having to access the suction screen on the left front of the transmission (belly pan removal required) vs the later type remote screen occurred at 48A6393. Also could depend on what transmission you have.

I have a pdf of the service manual for a 47A/48A D7. PM me your email address and I'll send it to you.

I did miss a digit but for your s/n you don't need to mess with removing a line to get access to the screen/s.

Morning guys,

I'm still doing an oil and filter change for a D7 E transmission.

I found all 4 drain plugs,

The 5 bolt cover w/ wire mesh strainer behind it,

The filter at pump on right side by the motor,

The two filters at left of seat,

BUT, I can't find a magnetic strainer/filter, ....... I have noticed this talked about in a few threads.

This is an old military D7, I have a parts book, but that's all. SN. at draw-bar reads 75E2073 converts to D7 E 48A 6883 and up .

As you move up the s/n's the magnetic filter screen assembly went away.
The five bolt cover is on the scavenge pump suction screen. It is wrongly called out as using 10 bolts in the late s/n parts book.

Edit: Sorry, got on the wrong page.
The Magnetic/screen filter was carried through to the end.
Item #19. I don't see how you could miss it.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
