Good evening all, about a month ago I went and picked up a belt pulley attachment for a D7. It was about 4 hours west of me in Ellensburg Washington.

It has an interesting back story (I think).

In 1947 the sellers Grandfather was using a IH TD-14 to run a stationary threshing machine. Apparently the 14 was getting pretty tired and the fellow was sure it was going to croak right in the middle of harvest. The fellow also had a 3T D7 on the place so he ordered this belt pulley attachment so they could keep thrashing when the 14 went down.

Well... the TD-14 made it through harvest. And the next year they bought a combine, so the belt pulley was never needed, or even installed, or taken out of the crate. It was put in a shed. And there it sat until the seller, Craig, put it here on the Bulletin Board.

One things for sure, this rascal is BIG. The pictures don't really do it justice.

Here are some pictures, I haven't taken it out of the crate yet. I did open the cardboard box that was packed with it containing all the goodies.

Enjoy

Bruce P

It sure is:amen::amen: I recall when I first started collection I was lucky enough to buy one for a Cat Ten. A month later I was in IL at a collectors place and they had a belt pulley for a Cat 60 on there shop floor. I could not get over the size of it. I have a pulley for the Sixty I am redoing now and by pictures you posted looks a lot bigger than a 60 pulley. Have fun with it and very cool story

That belt pulley was a great find, that's the closest any of us will ever get to still being able to go to the dealer and buy one new like they could back in the day. Good thing it's complete with the pulley and everything, I've got two RD6 belt pulley drives here that are in great shape but both came without pulleys on them, and for 5 or so years now I've been searching for one of the original Cat ones (or even just a good cast hub that could be re-papered) but still have been unable to locate anything. Anyway, great find there - if you do get it bolted up to the D7 be sure to get some pics!

Thanks guys I'm very lucky to have gotten it.

Pete you're right. The comic book collector guy in me says "once it's out of the original container it's worthless ". But the little kid in me says "get that sucker on the 7M right now!" At any rate the shipping crate and such will not be thrown in the burn pile.

I've got an old jaw rock crusher up on the hill that might just have to meet the D7. I'll certainly get some pics and video when I get it installed.
