Hey guys I have got a D7 tractor serial number 6T792, I haven't been able to find much info about it. The tractor runs well and the under carriage is in usable condition. At some point the winch was replaced with a hydraulic pump and a single cylinder mounted on the frame over the nose where the cable used to run overhead. I am wondering if there is any added collector value since what I can tell there were only around 1000 6T tractors built. Any info would be appreciated.

P.S. You can see the od green paint where the yellow is flaking off.

holloway338,

Your D7 6T was a military tractor . During years of 1944 and 1945, two special series of D7 tractors were built by Caterpillar equipped for use by the Army Corps of Engineers. These were the 4T series, built from 1944 to 1945, and the 6T series, which was only manufactured in the year 1945. The two series were basically the same as the standard D7 tractors at that time. They were some special mechanical changes to help cope with the shipping and other working environments they were likely to encounter in overseas operations.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
