I have a couple of parts on my D7 3T that I am not sure about and was hoping some of the experts here could educate me.

The first is the oil cooler pipe that wraps around to the back side of the radiator. Was this part of an optional oil cooler setup or some other attachment? The tube on mine had been damaged at some point, so I removed it and plugged the opening with a bolt and copper washer for the time being. Before I put things back together, I would like to understand what its original purpose was and whether I should be looking for replacement parts.

The second item is a bracket that came with the tractor. I have not spent much time researching it yet because I figured someone here would probably recognize it immediately. It is obviously a mounting bracket for something, but I have no idea what.

I will post pictures of both items below. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi,

I feel the pipe is used to allow the oil cooler to be drained when changing the diesel engine oil--the plug would be removed to allow air to enter the cooler core. If the plug was not removed the core would likely not drain successfully and dirty oil would remain in the core. It could possibly also be used to bleed fresh oil into/thru the core after an oil change to flush it out.

The bracket is likely a farmer attachment--

I stand to be corrected.

My two cents worth.

Eddie, Not sure why I didn't look harder at the book you are correct it is an oil cooler vent line. I still wonder why it is such an elaborate piece for something so simple.
