I have a question on removing the brake band on the D7-3T. I am going to replace brake liners, I need to remove brake bands, is thier a trick to removing the the pin that holds it or do I have to remove the whole anchor plate to get it off?? I got the band loose. How does it come out?? Do I have to remove fuel tank or do i split the band apart?? Help How??

I used to lean the tank forward and tie it off to the air cleaner. Then remove the large top plate, disconnect linkage, remove pins and then rotate band until I was able to remove bolts that held the band together, remove that section and then rotate the other direction and remove the remaining bolts that held the last 2 sections together. You reinstall in the same way.....reverse order.

Use an old time rivet machine......probably can't find one handy or close by these days.

Put a rod about the size of the head of the rivet in the vise, place rivet over rod, use a very blunt punch to start the spreading of the rivet on the other side, use a bolt to complete the bradding, ....just don't over do the bradding/flattening of the rivet.

You may find having 4 hands is very helpful.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
