I'm working on a D7 3t that clutch brake seems not working. I am not at the tractor till week of 26 Aug. 2024.Im looking at parts book and see the assembly. What i need to know from the experienced hands is it the lining on the shoe in most cases? I'm Shure adjustment is needed. I'm trying to see what parts can be found and maybe purchased ahead of time. I failed to inspect before i left the machine a few weeks ago. Thanks for the vast knowledge on this page!

Have not done any work on a D7, so a wild question. But I know Cat used many of the same type pieces on a 3t D7 as the D6 9u's back end. So if the brake drum is external to the clutch as 9u oil clutch is it can be ether or, or both brake lining and the drum that has the wear. It would seem the brake lining changed over time, and latter kinds were harder and wore the drum more.

Yes there is an adjusting nut for the clutch brake, kind of a big rounded nut on one side nut, I would be willing to bet the lining is shot, those shoes I am sure are available at Cat if not there are aftermarket ones that are just as good I have went to brake shops and had new lining put on and not a lot of money either way

These are the instructions for the D7 17As, but should be the same as your 3T.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
