Pretty sure you will need to loosen them bolts on the idler yoke first
Paul
Your on the ball today Paul!!!!!!
Looks like thjose yoke bolts aint loose ,,, plus they want much diesel or loose juce added for a time as well !! . That 7 looks to be a nice old tractor as well !! .... regards pete
Brother I feel your pain, only thing I added was a rose bud, you can also load a grease gun with penetrating oil and try to get it in the zerk but when they're stuck it's a big job. I had a similar pipe but did have a couple Cat track wrenches for the hex. Good luck, been there
Just my 0.0002c worth of opinion:
Heat the nut with a rosebud, and then put a piece of wax candle on the thread. Melted wax's capilliary action will do the rest for you. (Hopefully)
You need to loosed the 4 bolts but 2 off these bolts need to be removed because they are in shaft groove
Been workin so much its been hard to spend time on the old girl. Lots of torch gas used. Got all the yoke bolts out. Not by choice though. Broke one 3/4 inch ratchet. All 4 yoke bolts. One 3/4 inch breaker bar. The socket itself split. And a tooth off of my 36inch pipe wrench. That tooth is now firmly embedded in the yoke to spring shaft. Look at the pics and you'll know why. What do you folks figure? Somewhere around 4-10,000ft-lbs of pressure. Had my boy in the JD 200 on the 10ft cheater! What the heck is next?!![]()
Were you able to separate the yoke once you got all the bolts out? Where is it at adjustment wise. Maximum extension between yoke and guide is 8-1/4". Go beyond that and your likely to strip the threads in the threaded nut.
SUCCESS!!! Thank you Dpete for the oil in the grease zerk idea! Destroyed the zerk gettin it out, but had a spare on hand. Dental pick scoured the crud out of the hole and brake cleaner washed out the rest. No wonder I couldn't get any grease in there! Cruised the web for home made penetrating oil and found acetone and ATF 50/50 was supposed to be the bomb. Didn't have ATF, but mixed some acetone with 30W and doused everything. Squirted it in the zerk hole then installed the new zerk and loaded it up. Cut and split a cord of wood and when I came back........10ft cheater bar broke it loose! Still takes a 4ft cheater to move it, but at least she's free. Now for new yoke bolts and I can tighten her up! Thanks everyone for chiming in! Tried just about everything suggested and finally got it.
