I recently acquired a d7 17a (17a5157) with hydrualic blade I got some leaks fixed an got to run it about 10 mins today and while I was rasing the blade the control go stuck in the raise position and I cannot get it to come out of it. I checked the linkage and it is free from control lever to hydro unit upfront. Not sure if this is a common issue or maybe someone can point me in the right direction before I tear into it. Thanks in advance!

Clueless that isn’t common. Sounds like the valve won’t shift from that position. Maybe wore out I guess unless the oil is contaminated. I never had that happen

No pins have fallen out up front were it is hard to see with the blade up? Since it is close to 24 hours has the blade settled yet?

Ray54, the blade settled. I drained system and took the front plate off what would be the resivour and everything is free all the way to the valve itself so I'm guessing something inside the valve? Anything specific I should look for in there? Any info at all would be helpful. Thanks!

The way you state got stuck, did the lever bind at one point? If all the external linkage is attached and moving, it could be internally a pin has come out. But never having been in Cat front unit with pump and control inside the reservoir not sure how it all connects.

I have had a similar situation with very old Bursirus Erie ram off a old IH dozer. It would over extend. To get it to retract it had plug on the end you cracked open. But I have never heard of such a thing with the Cat rams.

Ray54. I disnt feel like it got in a bind or anything, I pulled lever back felt like normal operation just never returned to neutral. The valve has a bolt on the opposite end that the linkage connects to

has the lever spun on the shaft and that has left it stuck in position.

it should be keyed or splined. it may have sheared the key.
