Hoping someone can save me some time in diagnosing a problem. My D7 17a left brake pedal will not depress at times. It just will not move, although sometimes it will work when going in reverse. Then a few minutes later it may work fine. I assume and am hoping it just needs adjustment. Thanks for your help!

Hi, Catdude.
'Fir stup', lift the floor plates and check for any obstructions to pedal movement - BEFORE you start thinking 'big bucks' or tearing into it with wrenches. Try disconnecting the control rod from the lever into the steering clutch casing and see if you have free movement there. The pull the pin inside the case and see if that lever and crank assembly moves freely. Also check for obstructions in the bottom of the case via the drain plug.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Probably something simple as Deas Plant says.

I once had a 15A D-8 that the parking brakes wouldn't work on. I took the floorboards out many times trying to find the problem. I had to block it and chain it down more than I thought was needed when moving it because I couldn't lock the brakes. It had a long, tall lever between the steering clutch levers to set the parking brakes. After a couple of years, I finally accidently discovered the problem......the bolt in the floorboard over the parking brake linkage was 1/2" to long and was obstructing the last little bit of travel needed in the linkage to apply the parking brakes.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
