I had posted a while back about a d6 that was very reasonable. I am picking it up but think it probably needs more work than I have time for right now. I am shipping it to my father to mess with. I am attaching more pics after I cleaned up around it. I greased it up and sprayed down with oil.

My intent with this whole process was to get a dozer to put in a pond on our land. I am getting this d7 17a to do the job. It is 17a13249. It runs and steers but am having a cat mechanic put new track adjuster seals on it and I am replacing the pony as it is locked up. Spent the day greasing and lubing the pair. Just thought I would share as I had a fun day in some nice weather. The d7 is a monster.

The d6 is missing the rock guards both sides and the belly pan. Undercarriage on it looks really good. Undercarriage on the d7 is ok.

Gee, I noticed in the third picture the kitty cat on the left track of the Cat. WOW, how cool.

Also, you mentioned that the "D7 is a monster", I drove a D7 much of my teen years and to me that size is normal. Many years ago visited a Cat fan and he showed me his D2. To me is was so SMALL.... (not complaining here)

I determined at that time you sit down on a D2 and climb up on a D7...

Still these are cool photos and thanks for posting them.

I have a d2 but have really never been around cats. I am more used to farmall m's than other. To me a d7 is a monster. It is scary working with something I don't have the equipment to move or even budge. I could have paid someone 10000 to build a pond but chose to try to learn something new and attack it myself. Time will tell if I made a horrible choice. As long as no one gets hurt it should be fun. Worst case scenario aside from injury is I have a broke down or stuck dozer on my property I can't sell and no pond. I can think of worse things.

Hello,
I 17 years ago I did the same thing you are doing. Still got my D717A (serial #1488😎, and still play on it some when time permits. I replace bad pony with an electric starter, it has worked like a champ (although it is tired now). Have also figured out how to repair any other issues that have kept it from working. By the way, what are those tall things on your treadplates?
Have fun,
Kelly D717A

I don't know on those treads. Presumed just foot rests of sorts.

Any chance a four post canopy off of a d7 would fit on a d6? Doubt it but have to ask.

the grousers on my tracks are pretty worn, but the machine still works, also, the undercarriage is worn but still works, in fact much of it is pretty worn, but still works or at least plays. I guess my plan is to keep playing until a catastrophic failure of some sorts, which based on the eroded exhaust manifold may be turbo one day.

Up until i graduated from college I drove d6 and D7 size machines, to me they were normal.

A few years back I hopped on my friends D9 because I always wanted to drive one. It was parked in an open area. I started it up and backed it up about 20ft then returned it to it's parking place . I was overwhelmed by it's size and my lack of what I thought was control.
