The radiator will not stay completely full. It leaks out of the filler cap, and appears to quit and level out about 3 in down. I have replaced the filler cap gasket and the pressure cap. According to the gauge it is not overheating, and if it was overheating I would think it would relief out the pressure cap.

Any advice is appreciated,

Thanks, Tom

Here is the D6D, just painted it this winter after tearing it down to repair transmission.

Nice looking 6, you don’t have room for expansion if you fill to the top, 3” down is about right, check the cap gasket

Thanks DPete, That makes sense. The cap was pretty rusty underneath when I replaced the gasket. Maybe I need to clean it up a little better.

I ran A D6D for many years. your level is normal according to my experience. try running it that way for a while and check every day for a while and see it it stabilizes there.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
