I'm a little spooked on buying a D6C 10K with a bad final drive after researching their weak points on this forum. Sounds like any leaks in this area is bad ju-ju for a purchase.
But in reality I know these are 50 year old machines so I expect oily spots here and there. In fact, no leaks means it's out of oil for me :eek2: The question then is: What is a bad enough 'leak' for a final drive that warrants strong attention?
In my opinion, if it's not dripping and leaving spots on the ground when sitting then it's a weep and not a leak. But I wanted the experts opinion on a final drive issue as it's something I don't want to deal with if buying a D6C to use as hobby ranch machine clearing brush and build a stock tank or two. If I find a weep/leak like this one a used machine I thinking about buying, should I run away?
