S/N says it all. The 10K series did not get the 3306 until s/n 10K7953.
Don't get confused. the 10K had the D333C to start with, the 4.75" bore with no turbo, It looks like a 3306 and should not be confused with the D333B 4.5" bore used in the earlier D6C.
I use hydraulic oil not motor oil in the hydraulic system.
Trans uses Trans/Drive train oil (TD-T04 30w)
Final drives call for TD-T04 50w but I know a lot of guys use 90w gear lube.
For extreme temperatures there different reccomendations
Seems we go through this about every month.
Big difference in the front engine arrangements.
Thanks for the information guys. The pictures will be a great help in identifying the engine. I agree it should be the 3333c but they tell me its a 3306 and gave me some manuals for the 3306. I will let you know what I find out now that I have pictures The previous owner says the have been using 10wt motor oil in the hydraulics. This is going to be a farm dozer for us, probably around 100 hrs per year. Should I just continue what they have been using? Would it be ok to add 10wt hydraulic oil to it or do I need to do a complete change over?
SAE 10wt hydraulic oil is recommended for -4 deg. F. to 122 deg. F.
Engine oil SAE30 is recommended for 50 deg. F. to 122 deg. F.
In general you do not want to mix the oils.
Thanks Old Magnet. I guess the 10wt motor oil they have been running won't hurt it to bad. They say they have run it that way for many years. I need to get the operators manual. What is the capacity of the hydraulic system?
Depends on what hydraulic system you have. The 161 system (one valve) is 6 gallons. The 163 system (two or three valve) is 11 gallons.
Ok thanks. It has manual tilt and manual angle with one lever to raise and lower the blade so that would be a single valve? Do you know what year it is? D6c 10k613. Thanks for the help. I am only one year into owning dozers and have a ton to learn!
