So I have came up with some good rollers for my dozer!! Now comes the fun part. I need to remove the old ones. Does anyone have any tips for doing that. Also what about tapping strips that the rollers bolt to. Does a d6b have those. Would it be easier to burn out all the bolts and replace those strips? Thanks

try soaking with loose juice for a while--smack the head of the bolt a few wacks and see if they will break loose-with a big breaker bar

Make sure you hold the tapping strips in place with the rock guard bolt holes between the rollers, you don't want them loose inside the frames.

Can you still purchase the tapping strips new? If so would you have the part # handy?
Thanks

If you can purchase the tapped strips I would.
When l changed the rollers on a d68u I cut or broke all the bolts then removed the rollers and cutting the bolts as flush with the swing frames as I could. Then cleaned out the track frames and drove the bolts as strips up with a punch and hammer. Next pulled the strips out of the frames and cut what was left of the bolts off with a zip cut. Then put vise grips on the rusted ends of the bolts, heated the strips a using the vise grips wound the stubs out. Cleaned the holes with a tap and reused them.

Have a look at your swing frames if you can get the strips out with the stubs of the bolts sticking out I sure wouldn't fight rusted bolts or run the rusted ends through the tapped strips.

I don't know if they are still available, but to do both sides you will need
(2) of 7B6442 strip, (4) of 7B6444 strip, (2) of 7B6443 strip, (6) of 0S1566 bolt and (6) of 3B4510 lockwasher.
Bottom roller bolts if needed are 0S1601 bolt and 3B4510 lockwasher.
Caterpillar is still the best and cheapest place to buy the correct strength hardware.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
