Do you have a starter now? and is it a Delco 40MT or 42MT?
Either one will  also require the 1M0023 eccentric adapter due to the buzz bomb pony motors having a larger hole in the flywheel housing than the normal direct start drive end housing.
The starter drive you need is this one, along with the correct drive end housing.

I think a fella named Davis does the complete starter unit with the helical gear in Toowoomba Qld only as complete kit.

Hi Busso 20 yes John Davis sells complete setups and won’t sell individual parts, about $1800 for a setup. It’s good value if you want to go that way.

HI Stuss, yes I guess so, a little hard to justify if not used regular, I managed to sort both my pony's out and was lucky to secure another for a rebuild to be exchanged when needed after I build it.

Electric is a huge plus in simplicity and reliability. For what its worth with simple mechanical skills you can visit local junk yard and order the gear and nose and have less than $200 in the project - at least on the east coast lots of those easily rebuildable MT42 starters in scrap yards. Bob
