I had a fuel leak at the primary fuel filter bowl. I had already bought a new filter and gasket for it. The previous owner had a homemade paper gasket in there. Removed it and replaced the filter and rubber gasket and no more leaks. While I was running the engine I noticed oil dripping from between the injector pump and the accessory drive housing. Found that I am missing the cover that goes over the hole that the setting gauge is inserted in. Not normally my way of fixing things, but I made a wooden plug to temporarily plug the hole. That leak stopped. Now I know why the skid plate is so wet with oil. I will look closer today to make sure the cover bolts aren't broken off in there. Then I guess I will have to make a new cover plate.
Speaking of the skid plate, I think it needs to come off so I can clean all the sticks and debris out that's crammed in there.
I am also hearing what I believe to be a lot of valve rocker noise. I guess It is probably way past time to adjust the valves. From what I have seen, I am sure the previous owner never did.
Guess I am lucky all the big stuff works because the previous owner(s) sure let the little stuff go down hill.
Also got a new intake dust cup, muffler, exhaust pipe and flapper installed. Sure sounds better. Well quieter anyway. It sounded pretty good before. haha
