I have a D6b (44A series) with a #25 cable control for the blade. In the past, the blade would drop smoothly with just a little pressure on the control lever. I hadn't used it in a while, and now the blade will seem to stick when dropping. More pressure on the winch lever will cause it to drop, but usually more rapidly than I intended. Does anyone know what I need to look for to try to fix this? I have greased all the fittings on the winch and the pulleys.
You need to work it to shine up the brake drums! You could go through the brake and clutch adjusting procedure, but most likely the fix will be using it.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

I have noticed over the years that the linkages connected to the brake band get froze up then the band wears uneven and is very hard to get a good adjustment on them. Best thing to do is remove all the linkage and band and make sure everything is moving like it should. The control will work very smooth and without allot of force to use it. And when using the control pull the levers in quickly when engaging the friction discs if you pull slowly this only increases wear and heat on the discs.
