Hello folks.
I am wanting a winch for my little Cat.
It works so nice (thanks to you here) and I just thought it would be handy to have a winch for it.
There are very few Winch Cats here in eastern Canada.
Its a hobby machine and my family has a nice bit of wood land...so.
I know its overkill for trees that we have for the most part, but I think I would enjoy it and it won't beat up the machine too much.
I have worked with skidders in the past and enjoyed the job.
I may have found a winch thats from an older D6 2h is the model I think and another number is D35.
I know very little about these and have read a lot of posts about them but am still learning.
Thanks for now.
Regards Chris

Original would have been a direct linkage Hyster D6N but I'd try for the cable controlled D6C.

When you say cable controlled ...
What does that mean.
Is that the second pic and do they bolt right on and work.
I just missed 1 at an auction only 3 hours from home. It sold for a rediculious price of less than 200 dollars.
I wish I had known about it.
Hopefully I can find the correct one at a fair price within a days drive would be even better.

Yes the winch is direct bolt on.
Cable control is heavy duty flex cables to control winch functions.
With any winch make sure you get all the levers, linkage and cables or it can cost as much or more to purchase the contols for a bare winch.

You can do your homework here.....

Thanks Old Magnet my friend.
I have a little better idea now.
I see now that winches are sold from time to time here at auction.
2 coming up soon for D7H tractors.
I had no idea that any were here at all and I have been asking for the last year.
Must have been talking to the wrong ones...ha ha.
Thanks for now.

Winches winches everywhere.
Wow.
Found 2 today. 1 is a Carco and the cable control type.
2nd is a Hyster and is controled with levers and rods that come out under the seat.
Both are at the same place and not sure if they already sold one.
I even found a log arch from a parted out skidder I think I may attempt to use as well if I get the winch.
The D6 really is overkill for the logging I want to do.
However Its all about having a bit of fun with a hobby and not going broke while doing it.
I greatly value your opinions and read all I can find about logging with crawlers.
Thanks for now.

Number one rule. Make sure the winch came off the same model of tractor as you want to fit it onto.
D6N winch was basically on only D6 9U and D6B. Both pto shafts and couplers are the same on these 2 D6s.
D6C and later models could be fitted to D6C D6B and D5 tractors. And was a different shaft for all 3. And for D5s shaft and coupler are different for powershift or gear drive. Just something to be aware of.
