First, thank you everyone for your input. I have begun by following through on observations by “u-joint”. I found the steering clutch compartment (scc) has dirt, grit, some oil, and plenty of grease. Each one has at least 2 cups of grease. The problem is removing the grease. I have been placing diesel fuel into each scc followed by rodding into areas with tools trying to dislodge the grease into the diesel. This is followed by draining the scc. I don’t think that I can remove all grease this way, but most of it. Is there a better solvent to use, other than diesel, that would dissolve the grease? Some type of pressure washer that uses solvent?

More advice would be greatly appreciated.

Another question. Where is all the grease coming from?
Don.

Steering clutch release bearings.
Fittings are visible just in front of the seat tank above floor plates.

I think time is going to be the best solvent. Put a small amount in the bottom and let it soak. Do not put enough that it gets up to brake band and contaminates .
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

May be time to lift the fuel tank off so you can better see into the compartment.

Is it grease or heavy oil from the cross shaft seals leaking? Or even motor out of the steer clutch booster. With years of dust lite oil can appear as grease.

If it is grease check the hoses that attach the fitting on the deck to the bearing.

With the tank off a siphon blower nozzle an composed air will improve the cleaning of your solvent.
