Hi Team. I need pony big end bearings. I managed to order one pair of 6B2298 from CAT. They did say they could get them made with a 90+day lead time but after waiting that long, they seem to have lost track of the order and nothing seems to be on the way... Any ideas for how I can get a set? Is it a terrible idea to shim out old bearings?

Are you looking for std. or oversize? Reason I ask is std. are often easily available but requires you to build up your crank. That's what I did with my 5U main engine crank for the front journal

Thanks. Yes, ideally they are oversized. I am still having trouble sourcing any - even standard (made worse by being in Australia) but I will try to call some places in the US tomorrow. Thanks

call the dealer back. who is your dealer? hastings deering or westrac or william adams. ask where is my order. if they cant supply they have to refund you. if its lost in transit they refund you or replace it. they have to chase up the lost order though if it was sent via auspost.

you could try yesteryear engineering they could possibly build up the crank journals for you. they specialise in engine work for vintage cars etc they might even be able to find suitable bearing shells. i know they do white metalling so they may be able to make the bearing.

"i reject your reality and substitute my own" - adam savage. i suspect my final words maybe "well shit, that didnt work"

instead of perfection some times we just have to accept practicality

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
