Hi guys can someone help me, a fellow has a D6 B that has a crack in the gearbox housing that has been welded up couple of times but still leaks,
I have found a gearbox housing that looks okay but is out of a D6 C. casting no is 5M7327, The serial no is 5M7350,
Will this housing fit into the D6 B ?

I'd say no. The D6B trans case is a 4M7428 with no interchange indicated.
Also comparing a few internal bearing units with the 74A D6C, they do not interchange.

I've never seen a direct drive d6c so I can't tell on that, but I have seen d6b's that only had the tranny and finals stil attached to the frame rails and the transmission looked very similar to the ones used in a 9u.

May look similar but there is no interchange there either.
9U trans case is a 1F4444 RPB 3S2044.

9U has a 12T pinion. D6B has 11T. Pinion end bearings are not the same.
There are other differences although some internal parts do interchange.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
