D6 9U Service Manual

hello WayneB ,there is a service manual for the D318 engine and one for the tractor chassis ,blade ,hydraulic units,winch,.operator book is a must have too.
eBay is a good place or i have bought from jensales but pic are a bit hard to see but the info is good ,bruce oz

The manual I desire FIRST is a chassis service manual. What I see as unclear is which manual to purchase. The previous D6 was a 4R1 & 5R1 which wikepedia says was built 41-47, then D6 8u and D6 9U.
I have written several eBay sellers inquiring which model their manual covers and I am sorry if seller don't know what you is selling, then I won't buy unless I know. I don't know, because it is unclear, at least to me at this point. Looked at SSB tractor, ebay and I could throw money at the problem till its solved, or wait until someone says I have a D6 9U close to your ser # 9U11919 and THIS IS THE RIGHT MANUAL.
For me, price is not as discriminatory if you get the wrong book first and have to sell it back and forfeit shipping charges in the resale.
I am going to the CAT dealer today, and see if they can point out the right manual. I have been inquiring since I brought her home last week and the best detail so far is they have them on ebay.
Are the D6 4r1 and D6 5R1 the same manual?

Should not be that difficult to acquire manuals but you do need to know what you are looking for.
There is no "chasis service manual"
The two basic manuals are "Servicemens Reference Book's"
One for the basic D6 tractor....form # 30027
One for the Diesel Engine (4-1/2" bore 6-cylinder)...form #FEO30238 revision #4 or earlier.

There are two parts books for the 9U
Sr. # 9U1 to 9U13262.....form # UEO30453
Sr. # 9U13263 to 9U29764....form #UEO32595

There are other form numbers for partial coverage of the parts books but the most complete and latest are these numbers.

You will also want to get the "Operations Manual", The "Hydraulic and Equipment" Servicemens Reference Book, Blade parts book for your serial number blade, the parts book for the #46 Hydraulic Control .

The quote "Service Manual" for the D6 "U" model does not exist but the manual for the D6B 37A & 44A (basically the same except for engine) is very useful.

There are other form numbers for partial coverage of the parts books but the most complete and latest are these numbers.

My CAT dealer did not have a servicemans manual. It was not a waste of time.
I did however order a shift boot, and exhaust manifold to stack gasket. I did get part numbers for the shifter and lateral knobs, which are in stock. I did find that CAT can get replacement track, but I really don't need it yet. My chain measures 3.67 of 3.77 with 3.41 representing 100% wear.

I have a few adjustments to do, correct the right pawl latching, and adjust the clutch brake. I also have quite a few broken floor bolts. Undecided to fix magneto/carb or convert to starter/alt.

When I replace my exhaust to stack gasket, I intend to put in a weld tack flex tube in between elbow at top of stack and run exhaust backward over my ROPPS. Below the front ROPPS level. I could tell quickly why stack is leaking, as it sticks up beyond ROPPS.

Hopefully the Gent from Oregon has OP and servicemen manual. Read the older post #24 cable lift repair and adjust post with pictures here, and that was more than helpful. I understood the procedures and I am yet to touch it. Hope the other manuals are as well written.

OK,
I was thinking you had a hydraulic blade so you can skip the hydraulic manuals.
You might want to look for the parts book for the #24 CCU unit but check serial number first. Also has it own operatons & maintenance manual.

On tracks, be sure to do your research on availability and matching of sprockets and bolting. Typical late options are based on D5 (6.91 in. pitch) not the original 6.75 in.
