The pre chambers on my 9u11824 engine are leaking. I just got done putting a 24volt starter on it so I thought I might as well change chambers to glow plug ones while I'm at it. The chamber number I came up with is a 3h2209 which updates to a 247-3292. Is this the right one? Also Show's different thickness gaskets under the chamber. How do tell which ones I need?
Thanks Jesse
Also has any run the after market chambers? Do they hold up? They are about a 1/3 of the price.

Glow plug chambers fit 9U11705-up so you just made it with the correct heads.
1S1970 is the current glow plug chamber (one piece version)
Also requires retaining nuts 6F8061 and splined socket to remove/install.
Uses various thickness washers in order to index the glow plugs so that they don't interfere with the fuel lines.
After market works fine.
Glow plug hole plugs are 7L2123

Thanks.... 1s1970 updates to the 247-3292. 6f8061 isn't available through cat I'll try searching aftermarket. What is the part number of the correct head just in case someone has changed it.
Also wanted to thank you OM for all your direct start info. I used all your measurements and it turned out great.
thanks Jesse

What measurements did you use and have you mounted everything up to the tractor and run the starter?
Appears there are more than one set of dimensions to be used on the D318. Actually there are three sets, one for an industrial engine housing, one for the tractor and one for the grader.
The head you want is a part # 1H7659, casting # 7F7878.
Earlier heads can be used but the chamber bore would need to be enlarged to handle the glow plug chambers.

I'll have to dig out my notes for the measurements. I fired it for the first time Monday. The starter ran nice and smooth. Had to grind a relief for the one nose cone bolt. Other than that it fit great.

OM, I got this diagram off of your Web site. The only thing I did different was 1/2" measurement to the 1st bolt hole off Center line. I found a post here that said to use a different measurement. And that made the holes line up on the casting perfect.
Thanks Jesse

Thanks for verifying the template. Can you tell how well the flywheel engagement fit? Amount of back lash, loose or tight?
Did you bore for 3-5/8" or the 3-3/4"?

I bored it 3and 5/8. I have a short video of it engaging and spinning before I put the clutch to gather put I can't figure out how to post it. It looked perfect to me but I didn't measure the back lash.

OK, thanks.
Just realized I gave you the wrong part number for the glow plug plugs.
7L2123 is for the later 3/8"x 24 tpi glow plugs.
The 3H2033 glow plugs (for the 1S1970 chambers) are 5/16" x 24 tpi
I'm having trouble finding the 5/16" plug part number. Any one else have it?
Did you use this dimension for vertical location of the starter hole?

Found it,
The glow plug hole plug for 3H2033 glow plugs is part # 2L2277. Florin tractors shows having a bunch.
