I ordered a 6B4967 seal, a # which I found in my parts book which should go over the ferrule on the fuel filter housing and it doesn't look like the old one. Is this a O ring because that's what Cat sent me? The old one looked like it was a tapered rubber seal. Did I get the wrong #?

Thanks

NOPE! Its Right!
They get squished in there to look like a different shape!
Go back 2 or 3 pages on here someone else was just doing the same thing (D4 maybe?)
Lot of good replies on how to get it back in there without damaging it.

The recent discussion was about how to get the one on the governor end of the fuel gallery in place. There is a plug held on by a single bolt/stud with nut that closes off the rear of the fuel gallery (governor end) using the same o-ring as the one you are asking about. Later model pump housings were cast with the rear end blocked off so they do not need the rear plug and seal.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
