:dance:Finally got the d6 back together and sent it right out to a job, been working it hard for the past few weeks. Pushed about 5,000 yards of material, no head leaks, no steam blowing off, no oil dripping, guess it was a success, feels good!

What a great job on the D6! It looks real good out there on the job. Except for Deere excavator, you would think the pics were taken 40 years ago what with the Cat all spiffed up and those Autocars in the picture. Brings back great memories!

Dan- I think the original canopies were covered with treated canvas.

Thanks guys, Pete; another pic of the d6 with dad at the helm the sign says white excavating. Dan, the roof was my answer to the original design, just stained it and covered it with the material you might find on a model a ford roof, more durable than the duck canvas in my opinion.

The frame is red oak formed to a compound arch and the top slats are planed out of cherry, and maple joints are rabbited, screws are stainless steel counterbored, glued, filled and sanded, was a lot of work but well worth it!

Great job restoring the 9U. Would you please post the exact type of paint you used and color? Those 6 cylinder engines have the smoothest sound when working. Garlic Pete...I didn't know you liked any Cat with fresh paint!

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
