what a great job on that machine--looks absolutely great!! :first:
was the canopy designed and fabricated by you? I have to build one for my 7U--are the main roof supports timber or metal? what is the final covering on top?
Thanks-Dan
What a great job on the D6! It looks real good out there on the job. Except for Deere excavator, you would think the pics were taken 40 years ago what with the Cat all spiffed up and those Autocars in the picture. Brings back great memories!
Dan- I think the original canopies were covered with treated canvas.

Thanks guys, Pete; another pic of the d6 with dad at the helm the sign says white excavating. Dan, the roof was my answer to the original design, just stained it and covered it with the material you might find on a model a ford roof, more durable than the duck canvas in my opinion.![]()
Fantastic workmanship!---what material were the 4 side main members--sort of wide grain--and looks like 5/4 thickness??
PS--got my D4 7U from Meredith NH about 18 months ago.
The frame is red oak formed to a compound arch and the top slats are planed out of cherry, and maple joints are rabbited, screws are stainless steel counterbored, glued, filled and sanded, was a lot of work but well worth it!
Sure looks good.....a lot of work and it shows.
Thanks OM, couldn't have done it without the help from the wealth of knowledge on this site!
well done! looks great. what are you building there? looks like a runway
Great job restoring the 9U. Would you please post the exact type of paint you used and color? Those 6 cylinder engines have the smoothest sound when working. Garlic Pete...I didn't know you liked any Cat with fresh paint!
