Howdy, the thermoid couplings/links on my tractor are shot. I've read that this job can be done through the housing cover.

Looking at image below, would I have to remove all three bolts and the cotter pin to remove the links?

I also need the part number or better yet the whole page.

Many thanks.

Okay I found this with a better google search, gives me a decent idea of what I need to do.

Still in need of the part number

"Kai" glad you found it here. Are you going to order some from your local dealer or go online? Not sure if General Gear in Boise, ID would have any. Keep us posted and good luck.JM

Think I'm going with cat, I just got a proper look under the clutch cover and think I'm in for a real bad time. One of the posts may be broke or corroded past the cotter pin hole. I'm going to go ahead and pull the top housing off.

How many hours would you say are left on this clutch?

Back together now and everything seems to be working. I recommend to anyone doing this job to take the top housing off. I would not have been able to this job through the clutch cover as I had to heat everything and heat/beat the cotter pins out and even without that lining up the new links was a pain. I built up the old bolts with weld and will pray for the old pins. I know this clutch needs alot more love but this is what its getting.

Tularenut there is nothing wrong with the original patina/rust look, I prefer that than the oily/grease smear look as you see what you need to, I put CRC over anything that needs to move inside my housings. Nice work good to have clutch working properly.

Fantastic job Kai! Sometimes we make do with what we have. That D6 is getting some needed love from you, but will keep paying for itself over and over.
Where did you end up sourcing the thermoids? Was your water pump project successful too?
Are you going to follow the D8 and disk the orchard? Walnut removal is the nastiest, foulest thing around here. A LOT of roots to clean up.
Thanks for the photos, they help others envision what they might be up against. JM
