I'm still fighting with getting my D6 running again after rebuilding the engine. I have to use a shot of ether to get it to start, then I keep blowing injector seals on the #1 and #6 cylinders. They slowly start to seep and then eventually leak or spray around the seal after about 5 mins. Would a bad injector cause this? Also getting a lot of fuel passing through the exhaust when it is running. I'm puzzled, any advice is appreciated. I've attached a picture to show the injector leak.

Sounds like you need new nozzles. the injector nut torque i believe is 110ft lbs.

Thats the injector nut torque NOT the fuel line.

You need a new set of injectors part # 6H3364
Try here....www.dpausa.com about $16 ea.

Over torquing the retaining nut and ferrule nut can actually distort the capsule to where it will leak compression and fuel.

Hi markpa13,
a few additional things to check would be that the leakge could also can be caused by carbon and/or dirt particles on the nozzle seating taper both on the nozzle and down inside in the pre-chamber.

At the Dealer we an old nozzle on a rod to lap such crud off the seats in the Pre-chamber to stop the nozzles leaking by the combustion gasses.

As said above, correct torquing of the nozzle retaining nut helps ensure there is no combustion gas or fuel leakby. The nozzle is screwed finger tight onto the body. The threads are very loose to allow the injected fuel to pass from the body to the nozzle via the thread clearance. If the nozzle and body are not torqued to the specified torque or the components are distorted or set on dirty seats there will be fuel and comustion gas leaking by--especially with the peak combustion pressures generated by the either igniting uncontrollably.

The "O"rings are dirt/dust seals only.

Have also seen nozzles that were overtightened and had split up the side of the nozzle body, these leaked fuel out past the "O"ring seals.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
