I have a d6 9u with siezed engine, engine was rebuilt but siezed from sitting, any suggestions, i've poured diesel into air intake and exhaust manifold, then took valve covers of and opened all valves which weren't with a hammer handle to allow diesel to flow into them. Last i checked it was still locked up. I thnik my next option is to pull the head off.

I'm located in east central sask.

I he read lots of past posts on here about those who soak things for a year sometimes and frequently have success. I soaked a clutch compartment for a couple of months and every couple days spun the clutch 1/4 turn ( I used diesel) . Eventually the levers broke free, clutch now works fine.

Good luck !

Going thru the same thing on my D6 9U. I poured diesel and marvel mystery oil down it for over a year no luck. I pulled the head off about a month ago shop vac'd all the crud out. still soaking with different cocktails. have 3 out of 6 that are stuck the other 3 are loose. #3 and #4 center and #1 are the stuck ones. diesel drains past the rings on the loose ones after a day. I will probably end up re sleeve it but I want to get it turning over so I don't have to pull the oil Pan.

On the other hand I had a stuck John Deere d tractor and used the marvel and diesel trick and it was up in running in less than a week. But that's 2 cyl not 6. You just never know. patience is key.

Good luck!

take a couple layers of cardboard put it around the cylinder wall and fill the center with dry ice leave it sit about 5-10 minutes it should shrink the piston some it might come loose.
I had a cat 28 with stuck pistons and took the jugs off and turned them upside down and filled them with dry ice this and it worked

Brilliant Idea!
I'll have to remember that one!
I have a Ten Block that I want to save and will try this, when it gets higher on the list of things to do!
Right now, they are soaking in Diesel Fuel.

should work , I was filling the inside of the piston. when I did it I also took a wood 4x4 block and slid it in the bore and used a hammer and tapped it after it sat with the ice in it for the 10 minutes or so.. ( your mileage may very)
good luck

My first Cat was a PL 20 I bought when I was 17. The engine was siezed. I had the head off. I set a chunk of dry ice on each piston and it freed up.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
