With the transmission sitting on the shop floor I installed the collar, shifting fork assembly, and interlock and "shifted" the transmission to see all the gears. Gears are all there but it acted like I could get 5th in reverse. Thought that couldn't happen. I might not have the interlock set right? Any ideas would be great.
Also-the books I have do not give any torque values for bolt sizes. Does anybody have that kind of Cat Chart?
Thanks

Should not be able to get two gears at once. Check interlock mechanism for worn parts, pauls, springs, etc. Also any loose, damaged or worn shift forks.
Interlock shaft needs to be in position shown in pic.

Thanks for the torque chart Old Magnet--I will file it in the never lose file.
Looking at the wear marks on the interlock pawls/shifting fork assembly it appears all are in the right place. Nothing shows extreme wear. When I "shift" the forward/reverse bar towards the front of the Cat it's in reverse isn't it?
Cause when I did that last night and put the gear shift in 5th and turned the input shaft the output shaft turned. Make sense?

Yes, forward is reverse😄 😄
The tractor will move forward in fifth gear without the forward and reverse lever being in forward direction position but to get lube the forward/reverse lever should be in the forward direction position when operating if fifth.
$100.00 worth of parts and antifreeze and lots of time/labor and the D6 is back up and running. Nothing is leaking and short of putting the floor boards in and cab back on I'm happy with the outcome. I'll add pictures as soon as I can.
Thanks to all on the board for your assistance!
