Old Magnet,
I ordered one 1S1970 Precombustion Chamber and one 12V glow plug PN 3T9561
Same as 9M6055, 3S4121, 1P7912 in 155 watt and 3S9612 in 120 watt.
Strike one. Body of glow plug is too large.
Length seem OK but to drill and tap chamber to fit may make chamber walls too weak.

I am going to check some of the diesel engines on the farm and see I can find a glow plug small enougt to fit.

Can you send measurements of 3H2033 ?

Wayne

Other numbers rulled out.
4S7812 are late model plugs where 9M6055 were early on some Cat; one poster already has said they are not the same size as 3H2033

Got the message.....no go so far.
I'll get a picture and dimensions on the 3H2033 posted tomorrow.

Never really looked into the interchangeability of other chambers but that might be a possibility.

Thanks for the research.

Old Magnet,
Been giving this some thought. So far, striking out on 12V glow plug to replace 3H2033.

Another solution is to simply use the 3H2033.

(1) Install two small 12-20 AH deep cycle batteries in series (overkill) for glow plugs alone.

Charge with a DC-DC step up 12V-24v converter. Entire setup, batteries and converter is @ $100

(2) Still another solution is to use two 12 volt batteries series-parrallel using an 12-24 isolator
I know were I can get an isolator free, but this adds the huge cost of another battery. An extra battery stretches my space-claim also.
This isolator system is used in the military on MRAP trucks.

Don't really think I need a second battery for starting.

Now for a question: My 3H2033 came without a seal ring. Its not listed in my book. What is the PN for the rings?

You just made the chamber size change at s/n 9U11705.
Do you mean seal for the 1S1970, not the glowplug 3H2033. I don't believe the glow plug uses a seal.

The parts you need to go with the 1S1970 are:
2H3088 outer 0-ring seal
6F8061 different injector retainer nut
5B3718 o-ring seals for the injector retainer nut
Plus the shims you need to index the glow plug locations

Old Magnet,
The measurements for the pencil glow plug 3H2033 cough up no replacment in 12 volt in SAE 5/16-24 size.
5/16 is very near 8mm. I found a couple of plugs that are close in size.
Understand that 8mm will be slightly loose and cannot be torqued tightly.

My focus with my dozer has been installing the oil cooler/radiator, cleaning and touch up painting as I go.
Still have to change the oil and transmission fluid, hope to do that tomorrow.

Hope to push up some brush this weekend.

Haven't dropped looking for the 3H2033 pencil 12V glow plug replacement.
Question: has anyone looked at the metric angle before to your knowledge?

Hi Wayne,
No, never did look into the metric option nor do I recall any discussion.

I've wondered if there might be another chamber that could be made to work but it's about impossible to come up with the dimensions for these things. I was thinking a larger diameter might be turned down to fit the D318 head. Does appear that the D339 & D342 have the same threaded nose dimensions, height may not be that critical........just rambling.

Old Magnet:

Does the glow plug go into the pre-combustion area where it holds back compression or does it heat the precombusiton chamber body at the injector area?
I don't have my chamber in front of me.
The reason I ask is whether to continue looking for a looser fitting 8mm-1 plug or forget it, as compression would blow the plug out if at all loose.

Here is a typical glowplug chamber cross section:
They will blow out if conditions are right.
