I've seen a few posts on replacement hydraulic hoses but I would like confirmation on which hose you should for a D6 8U that has the thicker outer size so that the old style clamps will work properly. NAPA thought the newer style hydraulic hoses were not thick enough for the clamps to hold properly. Any suggestions, I've read that 3/4" R2-12, 2-wire is the hose to use but I want to make sure the clamps will work properly.
Thanks
You don't say what kind of hydraulic pump you have. If front mounted most common was a Cat 46 (?) I think the number is, or rear BeGe was very common. Anyway all low pressure by todays standards, 1200 PSI was top end brand new. So most all hose will handle the PSI today. Not knowing what hose your NAPA store has I cannot say about thickness for the clamp to bit into.
OD of hose is important for using those clamps. I think I just wrapped some tape around mine when I replaced a hose on a 7U.
sae100 r2 is the correct hose. in what ever dash size. of course use new grade 8 high tensile bolts with the clamps. you can file the mating faces a bit to get a slightly tighter grip. remember these old girls are only around 1200 psi. not the 5000psi of modern hydraulics. and dont skive the hose.

you can also get adapters to go from code61 to jic and use field attachable(twist on) jic fittings with sae100r2 hose
