Undercarrage rebuild in process. Here some pictures. Removed track frames from donor 9U, changing out parts, it had a broken recoil spring bolt. Removing the spring was a little exciting. Used a Bob Cat with forks to pop out spring. Welded on a new sprocket and looking forward to rebuilding track frame.

Nice to here from you jake. The 8u is a winter project 1 of 10,000 or so . I have another d6 at dads for parts, we removed the tracks and trackframes last weekend. Now for the hard part drilling and removing all the broken bolts and changing out rollers, springs, & idlers . The 8u is a good running machine but the undercarriage is a mess.. Will try to get more pics later.

Hi fellas

I recognize some of those parts in your pics,

I have a 1947 D6 8U with a front mounted CCU. Please check out my last weekend activity on the link below.

I was fortunate enough to have found the cat sitting in the scrub at my parents property, a quick tow with a MF1105 had the old cat purring.
Ive taken it into the shed and given it some TLC. Its not perfect. but its helping me make use of some otherwise useless land.
the pony motor does not work, there are a few decent oil leaks, its running hot, i cant get enough adjustment on the left brake. And i just Love driving it.

Hi, Lorne.
You're hooked. I have maintained for a LONG time now that old Cats should be banned - - - on the grounds that they are addictive.

My wife agrees with your comments. she might be due for some new gaskets and a bit of a lube.

Now if I understand your latest post correctly, you are telling us that your wife might be due for some new gaskets and a bit of a lube. Oughtn't that to be between your wife and yourself?

PLEASE, keep it clean. This IS a family forum.
