Is there any way the Pony motor bearing shell retaing pin/dowel could have gotten into my friends machines MAIN Engine oil pan drain bucket without having been apart

Are you sure it's from the pony motor? Does it have the oil hole through it? and mushroom head?
No direct route for that to happen.

Hey Bob, I agree with OM ... I also have a D6-8U and recently tore the pony motor to rebuild ... I see no way the dowel from pony main bearing could make its way into the main pan. They both share the coolent but not oil.  I have pictures of the tear down on another forum post if you're interested. Scoop

Missed the picture on the first go round, Yup that's the pony dowel pin.

Thanks - Been twenty years since I rebuilt my pony - but his discovery in the bucket looks like the dowel from memory.
