Hi all I am after some part numbers for the oil filters on my d6. Now I read somewhere on this forum that if they don't have the T handles on top of them they are updated to full flow filters? I can't find that thread that I read that on so I am asking for some help

Thanks
Trent

Forgot to right. It's a d6-5r 5494 with a d4600 engine.

Hi Trent, My 5R parts number book says the filter is 8B5755 though the filter tower in the book has the t handle, don't get excited, someone smarter than me will chime in soon, Cavpower in Adelaide show them in stock with a new part number 1R0729 at $23.09, so I'll guess that is the right filter number.

My D6 Operators book doesn't give a quantity, nor does my Servicemans Reference book, the Nebraska Test results from the ACMOC Chapter 12 archive say they put 4.8 US gallons of SAE 20 oil in the engine, so that's about 20 litres, the book does say in hot conditions run SAE 30, otherwise SAE 20 is considered normal, someone will chime in with the exact quantity soon.

Main engine oil capacity is 19 quarts. SAE 30 for 32 deg. F.-up operation.
So what filters do you have, bypass (t-handle) or full flow (slotted hex nut)?

My parts book turned up today. "Yay" but it only has the T handle ones in it. My tractor has the slotted hex nut.

Cheers.

Don't worry about that, your parts book is the Master Copy, the best version you can get, just take the old oil filter to your nearest Cat Dealer or filter supplier and use the numbers off it to get a new one and move onto the next job, I assume you have a Operators Book to show you how to maintain her, if not get onto Fleabay again and let a few more moths out of the check book.

Slotted Hex Head hold down bolt should be full flow conversion.
Uses a Cat #1R0659 or Wix #51161 element or pick one of several other interchanges.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
